A clarification: Infomaniak is a Swiss company. Switzerland is in Europe but outside the European Union and European Economic Area, so kSuite is not an intra-EU service. The European Commission has recognised Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection, so transferring personal data from the EU to Switzerland does not require a separate transfer mechanism. During the fit assessment, we review what this means for your company’s data and contracts.
Why companies consider alternatives to US cloud services
More European companies are reviewing their cloud infrastructure critically. The reasons are practical:
- Data location and jurisdiction — knowing exactly where data resides and which country’s law applies.
- A clearer view of who processes data and where, which makes GDPR documentation easier.
- Less dependence on one large US provider and its pricing or product decisions.
- Growing expectations from customers and partners for transparent data handling.
This does not mean Google or Microsoft are poor choices. Considering an alternative has simply become a normal business decision, and the first step is an honest fit assessment.
What Infomaniak kSuite is
kSuite is developed and hosted by the Swiss company Infomaniak. Data is stored in Infomaniak’s own Swiss data centres and is subject to Swiss law. Your own responsibilities as a controller under GDPR still apply regardless of the provider you choose. Learn more at infomaniak.com ↗.

Is kSuite a good fit for your company?
The honest answer is that it is not right for every company. That is why my service starts with an assessment, not a sale.
kSuite is likely a good fit if:
- you need email, files, calendars and meetings rather than deep Microsoft-specific workflows;
- keeping data in Switzerland, outside large US providers’ infrastructure, matters to you or your clients;
- you want simpler administration and one invoice instead of several services.
Consider it carefully — we review these points together — if:
- your workflows rely heavily on specialist Microsoft or Google features, such as complex Excel macros or Teams-based processes;
- you need to migrate Teams, Slack or Google Chat history, which does not transfer automatically;
- you use specialist software whose integrations support only Google or Microsoft.
The fit assessment gives you an honest answer before you make a decision — even when the right answer is to stay with your current provider.
How the transition works
1. Fit assessment
We review your current services, workflows and requirements. The result is an honest assessment of whether and how kSuite fits.
2. Migration plan
If you proceed, you receive a detailed order for moving email, files and calendars without interrupting work.
3. Migration and rollout
I complete the transition: accounts, permissions, data transfer and security settings. You and your team receive guidance.
4. Administration and support
If you wish, I continue administering kSuite: users, permissions and ongoing questions through one accountable contact.
Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is our data stored?
kSuite is developed and hosted exclusively in Infomaniak’s own Swiss data centres. Switzerland is outside the EU and EEA, and Swiss law applies. The European Commission has recognised Switzerland’s data-protection regime as adequate, so transferring personal data from the EU does not require a separate transfer mechanism.
Can we continue working with Word and Excel files?
Yes. kSuite’s browser-based OnlyOffice suite opens and edits standard Office files. You can also use Microsoft’s web apps with a separate Microsoft subscription.
What happens to our old email and files?
They can be migrated. Email can be imported from Microsoft and other IMAP providers, and an assistant supports file imports from Dropbox, OneDrive and others. Chat history from Teams, Slack and Google Chat does not transfer automatically, so we address it separately in the plan.
Is ADVIT an Infomaniak reseller or partner?
No. I am an independent IT partner and assess the fit for your company rather than for any vendor. If kSuite is not suitable, I will say so directly. For transparency, this page contains an Infomaniak referral link, and ADVIT may receive a bonus if you subscribe through it. This does not influence the assessment.
How long does the transition take?
It depends on the number of users and volume of data. The fit assessment provides a specific estimate; for a small team, the transition usually takes days rather than months.
Request a fit assessment
Describe your current setup in a few sentences — the number of users and services you use — and I will reply personally. The assessment does not commit you to anything; it gives you an honest answer about whether kSuite is the right choice.
